How I got here

Citoonthebeat (Ruben D. Sosa Jr.) is a Billboard-charting, award-winning music producer and artist from Jersey City, New Jersey. Raised in a musical household his father a church music director. Cito began playing drums at six and piano by twelve, laying the foundation for the signature sound he’s known for today.

In 2007, he opened his first recording studio and quickly built a reputation for his versatility and strong musical instincts. His breakthrough arrived in 2016 with the Troy Ave hit “Chuck Norris,” which became one of New York City’s most-played records that summer. From there, Cito’s momentum accelerated, leading to a collaboration with DJ Mustard and YG on the Gold-certified album Stay Dangerous and a production credit on Kevin Gates’ EP Only the Generals Gon Understand with the standout track “Case Closed.”

As an artist, Cito released his independent debut single “Familiar,” featuring Tory Lanez, Suigeneris, and TJ Porter. His catalog reflects a blend of modern hip-hop, r&b, afrobeat and pop.

With two decades of experience, Citoonthebeat has worked with major names such as Cardi B, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Jadakiss, Kevin Gates, Tory Lanez, and many more. Beyond producing for established acts, he is deeply committed to developing emerging talent and continues to partner with top labels including Atlantic and Warner.
